  • Ten is the debut studio album by Pearl Jam, released in 1991. The story of this album begins with the disbanding of Mother Love Bone after the untimely demise of their lead vocalist Andrew Wood just prior to the release of their debut album. Guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament would not play together nor see each other for months after the incident, but when Gossard was practicing with guitarist friend Mike McCready, McCready convinced him to contact Ament. The trio recorded some instrumental demos with drummers Matt Cameron from Soundgarden and Chris Friel from Shadow to advertise that the trio were looking for a singer and permanent drummer. Eddie Vedder from San Diego got a copy of the demo and began to write down some lyrics and sent the demo back with his vocals on top of the demo songs. He was immediately flown to Seattle along with drummer Dave Krusen and Epic Records signed the new band shortly after. The common themes on the album are depr ession, homelessness and abuse. Some were purely commentary, but some were somewhat autobiographical, such as "Alive" where Vedder, at age 17, discovered who he had known as his father was actually his step-father and was told his real father had already died. Upon the album's release, there was no immediately huge fanfare to follow, but it eventually gained enough steam to reach number two on the Billboard 200 by late 1992 and is still a highly suggested album to give a listen if you ever needed to hear influential albums of our time. Tonight we have X-Men Trainee Deadpool, Lady Deadpool, Gwenpool and Deadpool who are members of the well-reviewed, and appropriately named, tribute band "Pool Jam" recreating the iconic album cover. #pearljam #pearljamten #90smusic #grunge #altrock #marvel #deadpool #ladydeadpool #gwenpool #pooljam #epicrecords
