  • This is apparently genius 😂🙈😱 “We used methods borrowed from mechanical statistics to quantify the complexity of the patterns contained in Pollock's paintings,” said lead author Jose de Jesus Alvarez-Ramirez. “Specifically, we used fractality [indices] to quantify the changes of complexity of the luminance patterns [in his artworks created during the period] 1930 to 1950.” The authors analysed 30 Pollock paintings created in those decades, looking specifically at their luminance patterns rather than individual colour blobs and contours. 😂😂😂

  • Today I got to fulfill a lifelong goal - to see the magnificent bust of Nefertiti in person! All I can say about it is... WOW!!! It brought tears to my eyes! She’s displayed to enhance the etherial qualities of the form and colors - a circular darkened room with strategic lighting... she seems to be glowing from within. The stunning details and vivid colors of skin, lines of the face, cheekbones, ears and neck are breathtaking! Truly “The Beautiful One Has Come!” Nefertiti was Queen and wife to Akhenaten (originally Amenhotep IV), c1360-1350 BC, during the time known as the Amarna Period, near the end of the 18th Dynasty. It was a time of religious and artistic change, and she was a very active and visible part of it. It is thought by some Egyptologists that Nefertiti reigned as Pharaoh for a time after the death of her husband, taking on the full regalia and representations of the King. Many of her portraits show her beauty, devotion, and strength. This bust was found in the workshop of the sculptor Thutmose at Akhetaten, and is one of the most recognized and celebrated works of all Egyptian history.

There is no photography allowed in her room, but the guards let us take pictures from a distance outside the door, which made getting a good shot extra interesting! Swipe to see some “through the door” photos of this glorious piece of art! #neuesmuseum #berlin #nefertiti .
