- “Eventually, I think Chicago will be the most beautiful great city left in the world.” ―Frank Lloyd Wright
While Chantal was in Chicago she did a lot of walking but this city is also one of the most bike-friendly in the country, and touring on two wheels is a fun way to explore. Also, this city is great to catch a live gig or perhaps a festival because Chicago is home of the blues, after all.
Another place worth checking is the Magnificent Mile, also known as Le Boul Mich, or the street that stretches from Michigan Avenue by the river at the south end to Oak Street at the north. Restaurants and retail of all types are located on this expansive strip, making it a must-see destination for every shopper. There are many universities and businesses located here as well, giving it a vibrant and lively feel at almost all hours of the day.
Since Chantal went there in late summer she didn’t get to experience Chicago beaches in their full bloom but we assure you that they are one of the best things to do in the city. Chicago has 26 miles of lakefront along the shores of Lake Michigan, with several sandy options that'll make you forget you're in the middle of the country. They're free and open to the public. Some, like Montrose and Oak Street Beaches, have places to eat. North Avenue Beach is known for its beach volleyball, and you can even rent paddleboards. The beaches stretch from one end of the city to the other, and with the Lakefront Path connecting them all, you can explore several in one day. Or, just kick back, relax, and enjoy the sun and sand of the third coast.

- Today’s run was scenic, but that was about the only thing good about it. It was my last long run before the F3 Half Marathon next weekend. I should have worn one more layer (on top and bottom) and I was pretty cold for most of the run. (Air temp was like 15 and it was windy.) But the worst part is the knee pain that crept up during last week’s long run returned. I think taking a week and a half off due to being sick and then jumping back in to my plan with a vengeance isn’t working well for my knee. I cut today’s run short by a couple miles and I’ll probably drop down to the 5k next weekend and focus on building a smarter base for my spring half. 🏃♀️🏙🥶❄️⛄️
