  • This weekend’s self-care cheat meal is homemade buffalo chicken pizza. I mean, what else should I do with leftover rotisserie chicken? All in all it cost about $10 for two pizzas. Oh and I couldn’t forget a little @boulevard_beer for a night in. 🍻

  • BOPO Beach Day - January Edition?💕😆
    .
Spent the morning supporting, listening, and sharing the utmost appreciation for our love, Brooke @mybodywpg , while she spoke at @theaceclass_’s Babes Who Brunch!🥞💕
On top of opening the first and only body positive gym in Winnipeg, she’s an incredible online ally, activist, educator and supporter of ALL humans!
Brooke also happens to be one of my best friends, someone I lean on and someone I am so proud to stand next to as we take down diet culture, beauty standards and of course, the patriarchy!✊🏼
You are amazing and have only just begun! (Seriously, remember one year ago!?! @brookevanryssel 💕)

  • YOU DON’T HAVE TO LIKE YOURSELF IN ORDER TO LOVE YOURSELF 😱 ⠀

You’re probably like Lauryn what are you talking about, that doesn’t make any sense!⠀

But it’s true. Self-love is the act of being present and attentive with yourself. ⠀

It’s being honest with how you’re feeling. It’s letting yourself feel emotion whether it’s positive or negative, and it’s acceptance of the good AND bad. ⠀

It’s also developing parental loving for our inner child. The aspects of ourselves that we don’t “like” is the inner child in us crying out for comfort. ⠀
    ✨✨✨✨✨⠀

Here are 5 STEPS TO SELF-LOVE⠀

    1. Acceptance ⠀
    -forgive yourself ⠀
    - change the way you talk to yourself. You are enough. ⠀

    2. Respect⠀
    - set boundaries, say yes when you mean yes and no when you mean no.⠀

    3. Awareness⠀
    - notice the things you don’t love about yourself with curiosity. Ask yourself “what’s going on here?”⠀

    4. Knowledge ⠀
    - Explore- “what’s my truth?” “Who am I?”⠀
    - know that who you are can change at any moment - what do you value?⠀

    5. Trust⠀
    - allow others to have their own experience, stop controlling.⠀
    - trust that you are safe to put yourself out there and be bold. ⠀
    - listen to your body

  • It’s supposed to snow 12 inches tonight, and I’m not leaving my house so here’s a better-late-than-never life update:

So obviously I was MIA for quite a while. I feel like most people take deliberate social media breaks to focus on themselves or take a mental break or something...that was not my case. 2018 was hard. Long story short - I graduated my dietetic internship, passed my RD exam, and got a ”real” job. A month and a half ago, I quit my real job to work retail and go back to school. I’ve never quit or “failed” anything before, so this was terrifying, but not as terrifying as my mental health while I was working there. I hated my job. I was working six day, 50-55 hour weeks (with no benefits) doing a physically exhausting job that didn’t benefit my actual career as a dietitian. My job consumed my life, and I didn’t have time for anything else that I found important, like friends, family, or my SO. Life sucked. I wasn’t myself. There were red flags that I should have taken. I learned a lot, and I’m back y’all!!!

So - I went back to work at ULTA. I started my Masters of Professional Studies in Nutrition through Penn State. Calvin passed away in December (☹️), so now Nick and I are foster parents to a lil bb FELV+ kitty named Carmela. Life sucked for a while, and this is not the path I would have predicted for myself, but I’m far happier than I was a few months ago and thought that was worth sharing. 😊 That’s all for now folks!!! Thanks for following me on the gram.
