  • PC and caption by: @zinneducationproject "On May 28, 1963, in Jackson, Mississippi, the Woolworth sit-in occurred. β€œThis was the most violently attacked sit-in during the 1960s. A huge mob gathered, with open police support while the three of us sat there for three hours. I was attacked with fists, brass knuckles and the broken portions of glass sugar containers, and was burned with cigarettes. FBI agents were observing inside but took no action."

    In celebration of #mlkweekend
I am celebrating, mourning and remembering all the HEroes and SHEroes whom have made this day possible.
S/O to all the #blackwomen who #persisted and #resisted for so long in order to #freecyntoiabrown
For those named and unnamed still incarcerated. For those whom are missing and those presumed dead. For those whom the media will never highlight, the justice system will never bring to justice and those whom are tired of resisting and persisting.
S/O to those saying enough. To those whom have been saying enough.
For those whom can no longer march.
For those whom have been marching. For those whom have never stopped dreaming of freedom and may never see the #promisedland
S/O to all you fierce, brave, courageous warriors whom have stayed gentle, and for those of you whose gentleness is your roar, your commitment to freedom and justice is your passion. The world needs you. I need you. & thank you.
Supposedly, we stand on the backs of giants. But, I am standing on the shoulders of a people known for resisting. I am standing on the shoulders of people with loud voices and strong arms and soft hearts. I am standing on the shoulders of those crying "Let My People Go," on the shoulders of women demanding #representation , #equalrights , #visibility and #intersectionality
I am standing on the shoulders of my mothers and sisters and brothers and fathers. I am standing on the shoulders of my ancestors and of my heritage. And as I stand, we #stilllikeair rise and resist and persist. We still #dreamoffreedom
